Casual Emergency Critical Care Nurses Wanted!

We are looking for one or more experienced nurses who are interested in casual work starting immediately. We welcome applications from experienced nurses who would be available for casual shifts (with the possibility for ongoing work in the future). Availability for night and weekend work is essential. 

Animal Referral Centre is a family-owned, multidisciplinary specialist & emergency veterinary hospital established in 2016. Services offered include internal medicine, surgery, emergency & critical care, diagnostic imaging and hydrotherapy. 

 

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • General nursing of referral and emergency patients, including high-dependency cases
  • IV and urinary catheter placement; venipuncture and running of laboratory tests
  • Monitoring anaesthesia
  • Assisting with emergency surgical and medical procedures
  • Radiography
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Some reception duties, though ARC also has receptionists working evenings and weekends 

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 2 years experience working as a veterinary nurse
  • Have experience working in a specialist or high quality emergency practice (preferred but not essential)
  • Hold a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology degree (or overseas equivalent)
  • Deliver an exceptionally high standard of patient care
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be extremely reliable 
  • Be a team player
